What is coastal style - Anne Collard Design, CA
Coastal interior design 'does exactly what it says on the tin', a style inspired and influenced by the coast. It draws inspiration from the scenic landscape to bring the natural beauty of the surroundings inside. The earthy palette and textures are influenced by the rich ocean blues, soft sand, pebble greys, drift wood and dune grass. There is also a nautical theme that underpins the design, layering vintage accessories alongside navy blues and off-whites, natural elements such as jute, wood and rattan.
This colourful stairwell feature using our Pick-n-Mix Ball Large Cluster is by Anne Collard Design based in El Segundo. Summering on Nantucket as a child started her love affair with the beach and it has become the key influence in her style. In 2019, She moved to California and opened a studio specialising in sophisticated costal interior design, evoking a sense of relaxation and luxurious living. This project completely remodelled an existing Cape Cod style property that was very dark and in need of large extension, changing the floor space and adding a second level.
Modern costal design and architecture has a strong emphasis on large scale windows, framing the landscape as a work of art. Lime washed tiles, washed linen and wood panelling define a look that has a paired back serene feeling, mirroring the exterior views. Every detail in this beautiful home has been carefully selected, the feeling of tranquility is palpable, a space to escape and live the beach life!
