Lighting schemes for open plan Kitchen & Living
Open plan spaces have a number of specific lighting needs, strong and practical for the kitchen, softer more intimate for relaxing in the living areas. These split into two main categories, task and ambient lighting. Our pendants fall under the latter, more decorative accent lighting, the ideal way to highlight a focal point over islands, tables and seating areas. The huge range of glass colours and textures allow you to mix and match with any interior. The best way to start a project is to create a lighting scheme picking out the different zones and then layer up combinations, for example you might want some spot lighting over the kitchen island but also some decorative pendants to give atmosphere in the evening when dining.
This design by Love Interiors used to decorate Leon House apartments in Croydon is a perfect example of how to use pendant lighting in a larger space. They have a staggered line of Pick-n-Mix Cylinders in large and standard sizes over the kitchen island clearly defining this space and then placed a large cluster filling the open expanse of the living room bringing warmth and texture to the room. These simple diamond cylinders in bronze glass make quite the statement, imagine having an evening soiree in this spacious private dining room.
