Georgian Kitchen -How to create Harmony & Symmetry
Minnie & Grouse Interiors are a design studio based in Hertfordshire who were briefed to transform this Georgian family kitchen, bringing together beautiful aesthetics and practicality with a warm mediterranean influence throughout. They have successfully allowed the attractive and harmonious proportions speak for themselves with an understated elegance.
Georgian era houses were either square or rectangular, with windows and doors all designed to be perfectly symmetrical. This created a satisfying, neat and traditional aesthetic, the perfect canvas for a renovation project. Minnie & Grouse have kept all the period features such as the fireplace and chimney mantle, while modern touches such as our Liquid Lights over the polished marble island and the use of a mirror panel splash back conspire to create a gloriously bright and contemporary room.
A quintessential Georgian-style kitchen has painted cabinetry and walls decorated in a single colour with a matt finish. While early Georgian schemes use strong vibrant colour, later ones favour more subtle tones, including regency blue, beige and stone. Minnie & Grouse Interiors have opted for these lighter pastel colours balanced against a wonderful vintage herringbone floor giving the room a strong focal point and a sense of grandeur. The whole scheme is fantastically executed with a simple practicality that is timeless.
