Bedside pendants - combining ornament and function
Lighting is one of the most important factors to consider when designing a house and critical when it comes to the bedroom. You will want to get that relaxing ambience perfect, and finding the right lighting combination can really make the difference. The bedside pendant light has been on trend for a few years now, a great solution to introduce ornament and free up table top space. They are also a stylish way to frame the bed and elongate the floor to ceiling height.
There are two important things to remember when planning your scheme. The first is to consider the height, it needs to be low enough to use as a reading light (usually shoulder height when sitting up) and dimmable so it is not too intense. The second is to maintain a visual link between the light and the bed, this could be the accent colour or material finish.
We absolutely love this design by Natalie Paterson at 10 Studios, a superb example of how to get the perfect balance. She has used our delicate Spindle Shade which is traditional in form yet has a contemporary coloured base that ties in beautifully with the fabric covered bedhead and soft furnishings. The bold mix of oriental colours and textures creates a warm and serene feel, the ideal place to get some much needed rest!
I've been incredibly lucky and grateful to of travelled a great deal with family and friends, in which I think lies a deep love for nature, colour, people of diverse cultures and texture from so many beautiful surroundings. Founder, Natalie Paterson
