Studio K - Jaja, Cleveland

Interior by Studio K, Jaja Cleveland - Vintage Lights in Steel with Satinwood Gold Fringe

In 2014, Karen Herold founded Studio K and has quickly become one of Chicago's foremost restaurant designers, defining high-end dining rooms at prestigious venues such as the Nobu Hotel, BLVD and BIÂN. She has developed a diverse team of imaginative and forward-thinking brand strategists, visionaries, aesthetic masters and technical designers, to offer end-to-end design solutions for all projects.

One of Studio K's most recent commissions is at Jaja in Cleveland, a modern take on a classic steakhouse, situated just footsteps from the iconic clocktower at West Side Market. The design brief was to create an immersive space infused with curiosity, discovery and a luxurious energy evoking a worldly sense of travel and beauty. The interior concept is inspired by a female muse, a free-spirited worldly flâneur and translating her personality via collections of ornate objects, plush fabrics and lush flora. The space transports the guest to somewhere along the southern European coast, sipping on a cocktail and sharing tapas with friends.

Rothschild & Bickers hand crafted Vintage Lights hang over the bar area, the delicate hand blown glass shades sparkling with gold fringe trim and twisted fabric flex, adding a sense of whimsy and personality. The layering of lighting and cascading greenery throughout the space sets an intimate dining spot with skyline views, an experience that is one to be remembered. Studio K's design makes an emotional connection, guests leave feeling as though they have been transported and every  detail lends itself to creating a journey that lasts long after the meal itself.
