Studio

Rothschild & Bickers Studio is located in the heritage town of Hertford, England. Light shades are blown and formed from pure molten glass at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit using only callipers as a measure, a process that has remained unchanged for thousands of years, a part of living history. Each shape requires a tightly choreographed sequence of precisely timed movements and techniques which can take up to 10,000 hours to master. When the glass is finally cooled down after annealing, the delicate process of cutting and polishing begins, using diamond encrusted blades and flat beds to accommodate the electrical fittings. Every element of our production is done in house, even the simple task of packing is an artform, ensuring safe passage to destinations around the world.
